In the summer term RMA students were given the opportunity to work on a collaborative performance project with Curve theatre. ‘Fashioning a City’ is a Heritage Lottery Fund project aimed at increasing young people’s awareness in their local heritage through a performance project. Students worked with a heritage professional Madeleine Coburn, a professional artist Shruti Chauhan and Creative Arts staff to create a performance researching and exploring the expulsion of Asian British people from Uganda in 1972. They produced a powerful performance incorporating poetry, dance and drama and will be performed for the second time on Saturday 8th September at Curve with other community groups. The final performance will take place on the year 6 open evening in the drama studio at 5.30pm and anyone who missed the performances so far is invited, it is free but places will be limited.
