On Saturday 4th February the BTEC Year 11 Dance group had the opportunity to go to De Monfort Hall Theatre to see The Russian State Ballet perform The Nutcracker, one of the most famous fantasy ballets of all time.
Formed in 1981, The Russian State Ballet of Siberia has quickly established itself as one of Russia’s leading ballet companies and has built an international reputation for delivering performances of outstanding quality and unusual depth.
The quality of the Ballet dancer’s movement and technique was of the highest calibre and simply beautiful. The original score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky performed by a live orchestra was incredible and inspiring. All of the students really enjoyed the experience and the performance helped to consolidate and enhance their learning, research and understanding of The Nutcracker.
