Recently Rushey Mead Academy held its annual Dance Showcase. This year the event contained 22 different dance pieces, from approximately 100 students across the school and in a variety of different dance styles including commercial, contemporary, Indian, Bollywood, waltz, free running, camera and Street Dance. The majority of the dance pieces were performed and choreographed by our Year 11 BTEC Performing Arts Dance; however we saw a range of other dances from our student Dance Leaders, the Year 8 and 9 dance company and Rushey Dance Academy which is run by Kiran Kumar one of our year 11 BTEC dancers. Also represented were the year 9 Arts Award group, the year 7 dance club, a year 7 PE group and our Boyance dance company containing all boys from KS3. The evening required a lot of hard work, dedication, discipline, commitment and energy from all involved. On the night 99 students performed on stage and 4 students were involved backstage with the technical aspects of the show, lighting and sound management. The show was completely sold out and the atmosphere in the theatre was electric; the students performed superbly demonstrating excellent dance technique and technical and interpretive dance skills. All of the students involved in the show should be extremely proud of themselves for all of their hard work, commitment and dedication in putting on such a fantastic show. Thank you all of the staff involved in the event and to everyone who came to support the dance students in the event. Hope to see you again next year. |
